Dear National Delegates and Deputies,
With less than a month before the 16th ICS in Brno (Czech Republic), where I will be looking forward to meet you all, and after my first message to you on March 3, 2013 with which I have invited you to check on the new UIS website (www.uis-speleo.org), I have stressed on your critical role in encouraging the cavers of your nation to contribute to the upcoming ICS, and asked you to check the last UIS Bulletin (No. 55, 2012) and to prepare well for our next General Assembly sessions - an of course to make sure that your nation has fulfilled its financial obligations to UIS.

Here, I am sending you a second message (the last before our next meeting), hoping that you are all well... and that your plans are well established for Brno.

  1. We are still hoping that the number of participants (now approaching 1000 from 60 different countries) will rise, and again your role is crucial. The more we gather cavers, the more we succeed in making out of our Union a true international platform for speleology across the planet.
  2. I am sorry to inform you that we have faced a problem with our new website, since some updates have been made on the server and this impacted the functionalities of the webpages... I can assure you though that the whole website team has spared no efforts in solving this problem and the Bureau is supportive.
NOW THE WEBSITE IS OPERATIONAL AGAIN: www.uis-speleo.org
  3. I would like to ask you to check the last UIS Bulletin (2012) and review all included documents that will be discussed and voted on at the upcoming Assembly. This is you DUTY my dear friends, to come to the Assembly in Brno fully aware of these documents and issues and to have had a comprehensive discussion with the caving communities of your nations.

    Particularly:
a- The revised Code of Ethics
b- The amendments on the Internal Regulations (Guidelines)
c- other issues related to Departments, Commissions, etc.

Let us be well prepared for the upcoming Assembly and let us start a real reactive way of functioning for the sake of the future of our Union.
  4. I do remind you also to complete your financial obligations towards UIS. All past payments should be made before the congress if possible. This is for the sake of our international community. UIS assets are the property of all cavers and we should act in a responsible and efficient manner with respect to that issue.
  5. If you will not be present at the UIS General Assembly, please let me know and send an official letter stating who represents you and your nation.

I am looking forward to meeting all of you soon,

Best regards
Fadi Nader
UIS, Secretary General
